ALL RIGHT JOSHUA, THANK YOU. AND DAVIE COUNTY. FOUR PEOPLE ARE IN JAIL TONIGHT AFTER DRIVING A STOLEN CAR. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THE CAR HAD BEEN STOLEN FROM A DEALERSHIP IN SALISBURY ON SATURDAY MORNING. A DAVIE COUNTY DEPUTY SPOTTED THE CAR. AND THAT’S WHEN THEY SAY THE DRIVER, PIETER HARRISON JUNIOR, ATTEMPTED TO AVOID AUTHORITIES BY PULLING INTO A NEARBY DRIVEWAY. DEPUTIES FOLLOWED THE CAR AND ARRESTED HARRISON, WHO LATER ADMITTED TO STEALING THAT CAR. AMBER VAUGHN, A PASSENGER INSIDE THE CAR, RAN FROM THE SCENE BUT WAS CAUGHT NEARBY. SHORTLY AFTER. THE OTHER TWO PASSENGERS WERE TAKEN INTO POLICE CUSTODY WITH NO INCIDENT. A LOCAL ORGANIZATION IS PARTNERING WITH A COFFEE SHOP TO HOLD A BENEFIT EVENT FOR A FALLEN GREENSBORO POLICE OFFICER. MICHAEL HORAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED WHILE RESPONDING TO A CALL FOR SERVICE AT A FOOD LION GROCERY STORE ON DECEMBER 23RD. TODAY’S EVENT, HOSTED BY THE SAVAGE ROASTERS AND TEAM PATIENCE JEEP CLUB, FEATURED FOOD TRUCKS, RAFFLES AND A LIVE AUCTION TO RAISE MONEY FOR HER FAMILY, FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES WHO PERSONALLY KNEW HER AND SAY TODAY’S EVENT WAS TO HONOR A HERO. HE WAS A GREAT GUY. HE WAS SOMEONE THAT WOULD GIVE YOU ANYTHING IF HE COULD GIVE IT TO YOU, HE WOULD. WE’RE ALL BIG SUPPORTERS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS, WE JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO STEP UP AND HELP OUT, ESPECIALLY WITH IT HAPPENING RIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS. AND SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. SAVAGE ROASTERS HAS HELD A ROUNDUP FUNDRAISER ON ALL PURCHASES FOR HORAN’S FAMILY. AT THE END OF THE FUNDRAISER. THE COFFEE SHOP WILL MATCH THE AMOUNT OF MONEY RAISED AND OUR COVERAGE OF OFFICER HORAN’S IMPACT ON THE PIEDMONT TRIAD COMMUNITY CONTINUES ONLINE. YOU CAN FIND STORIES ON FUNDRAISERS STILL UNDERWAY TO HELP HIS FAMILY, AND A LINK TO DONATE YOURSELF, ALL AT WXII 12.COM. LOOKING AHEAD, A TRIAD ORGANIZATION IS LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS ON ENDING WHAT IT CALLS SENSELESS VIOLENCE. RALEIGH UP WINSTON-SALEM IS HOSTING AN INTEREST MEETING ON WAYS TO COMBAT THE RISE IN CRIME. IT WILL BE AT MINI LEE DAVISON PARRIS RECREATION CENTER TOMORROW NIGHT AT 630. ORGANIZERS SAY THIS MEETING IS ALSO A GREAT WAY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO LEARN HOW TO GET COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS FOR SCHOOL. WHO BETTER TO REACH YOUNG PEOPLE THAN THEIR PEERS? AND SO WE WANTED TO GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY, ESPECIALLY NOT ONLY FROM A SCHOLASTIC STANDPOINT OR A COMMUNAL STANDPOINT, BUT FROM, YOU KNOW, AN ETHICAL, MORAL STANDPOINT TO GET INVOLVED WITH THE FIGHT. THOSE WANTING TO JOIN THE GROUP MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD. AGAIN, THE MEETING IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. HAPPENING NOW IN HIGH POINT. THREE PEOPLE ARE HURT AND ANOTHER THREE ARE WITHOUT A HOME. TONIGHT, AFTER A DUPLEX FIRE. OFFICIALS TELL US THIS HAPPENED AROUND 1:30 P.M. ON PILGRIM AVENUE. FIRE CREWS ARRIVED TO THE SCENE AND SAID THEY SAW HEAVY SMOKE COMING FROM THE DUPLEX, AND AN ADULT LYING IN THE DRIVEWAY. ONCE FIREFIGHTERS WENT INSIDE THE BUILDING, THEY FOUND AND REMOVED TWO MORE PEOPLE. THREE OTHERS WHO HAD BEEN INSIDE THE DUPLEX WERE ABLE TO GET OUT ON THEIR OWN. ALL VICTIMS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL.
