2025 NFL Mock Draft sees Seattle Seahawks pick 3rd QB in first round as Geno Smith succession plan

The 2025 NFL Draft order is beginning to take shape as the 2024 NFL season winds down. Sportskeeda’s Mock Draft Simulator predicts that the Seattle Seahawks will select Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe with the 18^th overall pick in the first round. This represents the third quarterback off of the draft board this year, behind Shedeur Sanders and Cameron Ward. In a bit of a surprise, the simulator expects Carson Beck to fall down into the later part of the first round, despite his currently high draft expectations.

Milroe possesses the athleticism and dual-threat skillset that most offense are seeking in the modern version of the way that the NFL is played. Across his past two seasons as the starter for Alabama, he has thrown for 38 touchdowns, but has also added a massive 32 rushing touchdowns.

The dynamic prospect has also rushed for 1,250 yards across the past two years, so his game may be highly desirable for NFL teams this year. With the Seahawks potentially in the market to develop a future plan behind Geno Smith, it makes sense for them to target the upside of Milroe without forcing him into an immediate starting situation. The long-term strategy could be beneficial for the team going forward.
