3 Trades the Utah Jazz could do at the trade deadline. nba-john-collins-collin-sexton-jordan-clarkson

The Utah Jazz are in a rebuild year. They currently have the 2nd worst record in the league and have lost 8 in a row. The Jazz’s priority has seemed to be developing the young guys and seek first round picks for the future. By trading veteran candidates, specifically John Collins, Collin Sexton, or Jordan Clarkson, Utah could obtain more coveted draft picks.

Trade Number 1

The Jazz get more draft picks and still get veterans to help mentor the young guys. The Heat get younger, better players to help prepare their future for beyond Jimmy Butler.

Trade Number 2

Similar to trade 1, Utah gets picks, Pistons get younger and better players to continue their ascent.

Trade Number 3

In this 3 team trade, the Jazz absorb and likely waive the contract of P.J. Tucker, take a chance on the teenage Cam Christie, and get 4 second picks. The Clippers get a veteran marksman, who may bounce back from his rough year in a new scenery. The Hawks get the best player in the trade, Collin Sexton, who would be a great 6th man option for a team that is lacking creation beyond Trae Young.

Trade Number 4

The Jazz bring on a bad contract in Nurkic and lose fan favorite Clarkson, but get another pick to add to their portfolio.

Trade Number 5

In this hypothetical trade, the Jazz land a 2nd round pick and salary filler, the Bulls get effective veteran pieces and a 1st round pick. The Rockets make a move for an all-star calibur player and get a 6th man scorer player to bolster their title run chances.

The Jazz maybe won’t trade any players this deadline, they already have the 2nd best odds to get Cooper Flagg in the summer. Trading some veteran guys now increases the chances of the Jazz tanking for Flagg and gets them even more draft capital to build for the future.

What will Utah do at the deadline, comment below!

  1. Trade for John Collins: The Utah Jazz could look to bolster their frontcourt by trading for Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins. Collins is a versatile big man who can score inside and outside, as well as provide solid rebounding and shot-blocking. The Jazz could potentially package a combination of draft picks and young players to make a deal for Collins before the trade deadline.
  2. Trade for Collin Sexton: The Jazz could also look to add some scoring punch to their backcourt by trading for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton. Sexton is a dynamic scorer who can create his own shot and put up big numbers on any given night. The Jazz could potentially offer up some of their bench depth, such as Jordan Clarkson, to make a deal for Sexton before the deadline.
  3. Trade Jordan Clarkson: Speaking of Jordan Clarkson, the Jazz could potentially explore trading him to acquire another piece that fits their roster better. Clarkson has been a valuable scorer off the bench for Utah, but if they can find a trade that brings in a player who better complements their starting lineup, it could be worth exploring. Clarkson’s scoring ability could be attractive to other teams looking to add some firepower to their bench unit.
