Netflix’s recent movie Carry-On is an exciting new thriller with a Christmas setting that is reminiscent of holiday action movies like Die Hard, as well as the Lian Neeson lead Non-Stop. Carry-On stars Taron Egerton as a TSA agent who unwillingly gets involved in a plot to smuggle a nerve agent through airport security and onto a plane. The action thriller creates tense scenes between Egerton’s Ethan and Jason Bateman’s “The Traveler” as they each attempt to outsmart the other, leading to Carry-On‘s exciting final fight scene.
Carry-On is also a great reminder to watch a 10-year-old Liam Neeson movie that is strikingly similar. Non-Stop is another action movie that takes place on a plane with similar action and main characters, making it great to watch after Carry-On. Both movies are action-packed and utilize their casts to make the sequences of attempting to find the villain even more thrilling. After watching Carry-On Neeson’s 2014 movie Non-Stop is a perfect continuation because it almost works as an extension of the newer movie with somewhat higher stakes and a more claustrophobic setting. Carry-On mostly takes place in an airport, with only the climax of the movie taking place on a plane, but Non-Stop largely takes place during a flight. In fact, the premise of Non-Stop actually makes sense as a sequel to Carry-On, since it sees Neeson’s character Bill Marks attempting to stop a bomb from going off on a plane.

Carry-On feels like a spiritual sequel to the Liam Neeson action movie, and it is by design. Far beyond just their shared director. Collet-Serra made four action thrillers with Neeson. It is natural that the protagonist of Carry-On is very similar to the characters played by Neeson in this director’s other movies. Collet-Serra and Neeson also worked together on 2011’s Unknown, 2015’s Run All Night, and 2018’s The Commuter, making Non-Stop the second of their fruitful collaborations.
Both Ethan and Bill just happen to have past experiences and knowledge that allow them to eventually outsmart the bad guys, making for a very entertaining watch.
In addition to having the same creative mind behind the camera, the characters of Bill Marks and Ethan Kopek themselves are quite similar in personality and skills. Both men are just trying to go about their days and do their jobs when they are thrust into the role of the hero. When their families are threatened, both will stop at nothing to save them and as many other innocent people as possible. Additionally, both Ethan and Bill just happen to have past experiences and knowledge that allow them to eventually outsmart the bad guys, making for a very entertaining watch.

Neeson Could Flip His Usual Role In Carry-On 2
Egerton has expressed interest in returning for a Carry-On sequel already, as long as the plot is creative and happens organically. If Carry-On 2 does happen, Neeson should make an appearance, marking another collaboration between the director (who would also hopefully return) and actor. However, since the ending of Carry-On shows Ethan had finally become a cop like he always dreamed, the best way to incorporate Neeson could be as a villain, making for something more original for this collaboration.
