Angel Reese Wore a Hot New Year’s Eve Outfit and People Online Got Mad

Since the dawn of time, people have tried to take down cool, talented, beautiful women, and trust that in 2025, that trend has sadly stuck around. WNBA star Angel Reese is the most victim of this, and while I guess no one should be surprised, it’s pretty disappointing. The Chicago Sky’s rookie posted videos of her New Year’s Eve outfit and was immediately slammed by people online for showing too much skin.

Stuff like that is as predictable as the ending to a fairy tale. That’s the unfortunate part, but it’s also worth talking about the fact that she looked incredibly beautiful. She wore a floor-length leopard print lace gown with a stomach-deep neckline that very much gives Jennifer Lopez in that Versace dress and a high leg slit. The dress obviously showed off her body, and that was enough to send an entire mob of angry comments.

This morning, Reese appeared to have deactivated her Instagram in response to the negativity. A lot of the comments were shaming her for showing off her body, suggesting that she stick to playing basketball. This is obvious and boring misogyny, the idea that a professional athlete can’t also enjoy being sexy or getting dressed up for a night out. Reese was a college student this time last year, and obviously she has a life outside of her job, just like everyone else. This notion is, of course, never confusing for male athletes, whose personal lives and even actual scandals aren’t ever given much seriousness, as long as they’re GOATs on the court.

The good news is Reese has shooters. Her supporters are just as loud as her haters.
