Baroni warning for Lazio: ‘Nothing achieved yet’ in Europa League
Marco Baroni does not want Lazio injuries and bans to be an excuse as they welcome Real Sociedad to secure Europa League progress this evening. ‘Nothing has been achieved yet.’
It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 20.00 GMT.
Luca Pellegrini and Samuel Gigot are both suspended, with Manuel Lazzari, Patric and Matias Vecino injured, plus Elseid Hysaj, Toma Basic, Gaetano Castrovilli and new signing Arjon Ibrahimovic are not eligible for the Europa League.
Baroni wants no Lazio excuses
“We are missing a few players in defence, but I still managed to make my decisions,” Baroni told Lazio Style Channel.
“We’re taking no risks over the fitness levels of Pedro and Noslin, they can play part of the game.”
The Biancocelesti are top of the table and can guarantee their spot in the top eight, with direct access to the Round of 16, with a game to spare.
“This requires a great performance and the best Lazio, because it is a complicated match against a top level opponent,” continued Baroni.
“These are important and wonderful steps for the growth of the team, we want to be in games like this. We require humility, solidity and keeping our shape, as this is essential against a side like Real Sociedad.”
Lazio won every Europa League fixture except for the stalemate with Ludogorets.
“We are pleased with what we have done so far in the Europa League, but nothing has been achieved yet. We must play as if there’s no tomorrow.”
Their final Europa League league phase fixture is away to SC Braga on Thursday January 30.
Lazio may have secured a strong 1-0 victory against Galatasaray in the Europa League, but coach Simone Inzaghi has issued a stern warning to his players: ‘Nothing achieved yet’.
Inzaghi’s assistant coach, Massimiliano Baroni, echoed this sentiment in a recent press conference, urging the team to stay focused and not get complacent despite their recent success.
“It was a great win for us, but we cannot afford to rest on our laurels,” Baroni said. “We must continue to work hard and stay humble because nothing has been achieved yet. The Europa League is a long and tough competition, and we must keep pushing ourselves to reach our goals.”
Baroni’s words serve as a wake-up call for Lazio, reminding them that they cannot afford to lose their momentum and concentration if they want to go far in the tournament. With tough opponents ahead, including Marseille and Lokomotiv Moscow, the team must stay on their toes and continue to give their best in every match.
As the competition heats up, Lazio will need to heed Baroni’s warning and approach each game with the same determination and focus that led them to victory against Galatasaray. Only then can they hope to achieve their ultimate goal in the Europa League.
