3. Pulley: A pulley is a wheel with a groove around its circumference that is used to change the direction of a force. By using multiple pulleys in a system, it is possible to lift heavy objects with less effort. Pulleys are commonly used in elevators, cranes, and flagpoles.

4. Inclined Plane: An inclined plane is a flat surface that is tilted at an angle. By sliding objects up or down the plane, the force required to move the object is reduced. Examples of inclined planes include ramps, stairs, and slides.

5. Wedge: A wedge is a simple machine that is made up of two inclined planes placed back to back. When a wedge is driven into an object, it splits the object apart by exerting a large amount of force over a small area. Examples of wedges include knives, axes, and doorstops.

6. Screw: A screw is a simple machine that consists of a threaded shaft wrapped around a cylinder. By turning the screw, it is possible to move objects along the shaft or clamp materials together. Screws are commonly used in screws, bolts, and jar lids.

By understanding these basic machines and how they work, we can better appreciate the technology that surrounds us in our everyday lives.
