Bengals Appear to be Shuffling Offensive Line Ahead of Must-Win vs Steelers

CINCINNATI — Bengals rookie right tackle Amarius Mims is active for Saturday’s game against the Steelers, but he might not be starting.

The former first round pick is dealing with a broken right hand. He started last week against Denver, but didn’t finish the game.

Cody Ford took the first-team reps at right tackle in pregame warmups. Cordell Volson lined up at left guard.

That’s a sign that Mims will be available, but may only be on the field if there’s an extra lineman or if there’s an injury.

As the Cincinnati Bengals gear up for a crucial matchup against their division rival Pittsburgh Steelers, it appears they are making some changes to their offensive line. With a must-win game on the horizon, the Bengals are shuffling pieces in hopes of finding the right combination to protect quarterback Joe Burrow and open up running lanes for their backs.

One notable change is the potential shift of rookie Jackson Carman from guard to tackle. The Bengals selected Carman in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the intention of eventually moving him to tackle, and it seems that time may have come sooner than expected. Carman has shown promise at guard, but the Bengals are hoping his athleticism and size will translate well to the tackle position.

Additionally, the Bengals have been mixing in different combinations of linemen during practice this week in an effort to find the best starting five. With injuries and inconsistent play plaguing the offensive line, finding stability and cohesiveness will be key for the Bengals to have success against a tough Steelers defense.

As the Bengals head into this pivotal matchup, they know that the performance of their offensive line will be crucial to their success. With a potential shuffle in the works, Cincinnati is hoping to find the right formula to secure a much-needed victory against their division rival.
