While Bengaluru has always been ahead when it comes to traffic and congetion, Maharashtra’s Pune has also been named with the IT capital of India as the worst places with traffic in Asia, according to Statista.
The website has been designed and developed by the Centre for e-Governance, Government of Karnataka, according to a release from the police. The traffic police stated that the website is divided into three main sections: Traffic Management, Enforcement, and Road Safety."By navigating these sections, users can report traffic violations, register complaints and suggestions, pay traffic challans, or dispute challans. Using enhanced data analytics, we can provide a Traffic Situation Map that gives real-time updates on traffic congestion, road closures, and diversions," said M N Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru City.
According to Statista, an average driver in Bengaluru spent atleast 28 minutes and 10 seconds on road to cover 10 km. Coming in second is Pune where a person has to spend atleast 27 minutes 50 seconds. Other cities in the list are Manila in the Philippines and Taichung in Taiwan. The Bengaluru Traffic Police on Friday launched a new website aimed at providing citizens with a more convenient and user-friendly experience.
With a fresh design, improved navigation, and smarter features, the new platform (https://btp.karnataka.gov.in) replaces the old website and introduces unique tools to simplify traffic-related services and promote a smoother driving experience in the city, officials said.

Bengaluru traffic: Half an hour for 10 km: Pune, Bengaluru commuters waste nearly a week in traffic annually; IT cities rank slowest in Asia It's no secret that traffic in Bengaluru and Pune can be a nightmare for commuters. A recent study has revealed that residents in these two IT cities waste nearly a week each year sitting in traffic. The study found that it takes an average of half an hour to cover just 10 km in Bengaluru, making it one of the slowest cities in Asia for traffic congestion. Pune was not far behind, with commuters spending a similar amount of time stuck in traffic on a daily basis. The findings are concerning not only for the time wasted by residents, but also for the impact on productivity and quality of life. The constant gridlock in these cities has also led to increased air pollution and road accidents. Efforts are being made to improve the situation, with initiatives such as the construction of new metro lines and the implementation of traffic management systems. However, much more needs to be done to alleviate the burden on commuters and make these cities more livable. In the meantime, residents of Bengaluru and Pune will continue to spend countless hours stuck in traffic, wondering when a solution will finally be found.
