Jeanty is the first Boise State player to claim the award, which recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football with ties to Texas.
BOISE, Idaho — Another day, another accolade. Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty on Wednesday was named the winner of the 2024 Early Campbell Tyler Rose Award, SPORTyler announced.
The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who graduated from a Texas high school or competes at a four-year college in the Lone Star State. Jeanty is the first Boise State player to claim the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
The back-to-back Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year is a product of Frisco’s Lone Star High School, where he rumbled for 1,843 yards on 229 carries with 41 total touchdowns in 12 games as a senior.
Jeanty is the 12th player and fourth running back to win the award. Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II took home the 2023 trophy, joining Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins (2019) and Texas’ D’Onta Foreman (2016).
Jeanty rolls toward the 2025 NFL Draft as Boise State’s all-time leader in rushing yards (4,769), yards per carry (6.4) and yards per game (119.2). The Bronco bruiser also sits atop the program record books with eight 200-yards rushing performances and 22 100-yard rushing games.
The junior made history as the first Boise State player to win the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award after posting 2,601 rushing yards this season – the second-highest total in FBS history. Jeanty also became the only unanimous All-American in Bronco history.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award “recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.”
Jeanty received the award during the Early Campbell Tyler Rose Award banquet on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The Heisman runner-up led the FBS with 2,750 all-purpose yards and set new records for the College Football Playoff era with 1,970 yards after contact and 164 missed tackles forced.
“I’m honored to present the award to Ashton Jeanty,” Earl Campbell said. “All of these players had incredible seasons. They all deserved their place as a finalist. We were glad to celebrate all of them tonight and award Ashton as the winner.”
The other finalists for the award featured four quarterbacks in Bryson Daily (Army), Kevin Jennings (SMU), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Cam Ward (Miami). For more information on the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, click here.
