American Frances Tiafoe, the No 4 seed, reached the second round of the Brisbane Open by winning against Australian wildcard Adam Walton 7-6 (5), 6-3 at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Tiafoe fired an incredible 13 aces and broke Walton twice to finish the match in an hour, 32 minutes.
Tiafoe, ranked No 18, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Australian Nick Kyrgios next.
