Broccoli Sold at Walmart Recalled Over Possible Listeria Contamination

A bagged broccoli product sold at Walmart is being recalled by over listeria contamination concerns.

Braga Fresh issued a voluntary recall of a single batch of Marketside Broccoli Florets, the FDA announced on Dec. 31. The recall applies to washed and ready-to-eat products packaged in a 12-ounce bag with a best-if-used-by date of Dec. 10, 2024.

Though this specific batch is no longer being sold in stores — it’s weeks past its best-by date — those who bought it may have frozen the broccoli, in which case the FDA recommended throwing the broccoli away.

Thus far, no illnesses in connection to this batch of broccoli have been reported. The “potential for contamination” was reported after a random testing at a Texas Walmart location in which a sample produced a positive result for listeria, the FDA stated.

The recall has been issued in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The recall is only in Walmart stores, according to the FDA.
