Building on fire at Moss Landing Power Plant

MOSS LANDING, Calif. (KION-TV) — Crews have responded to a building fire at the Moss Landing Power Plant with first reports around 3 p.m.

North County Fire Department is urging those locally who live in Zones MRY-B047 and MRY-B053 to close window and doors and shut off air systems until further notice. These zones can be viewed at https://www.readymontereycounty.org/emergency.

They also requested that locals stay out of the area to allow access of emergency vehicles.

Heavy black smoke can be seen coming from the Vistra Energy side of the power plant. The building has been evacuated.

Fire crews and emergency services are actively standing by at the scene with Moss Landing. Hazmat crews have arrived on the scene.

The last time a fire occurred at the Moss Landing Power Plant was on Sept. 20, 2022 at the Tesla Power Storage facility.
