Chico Youth Soccer says that more than 700 kids between the ages of six and 15 have signed up for the upcoming season, and the season officially kicks off on February 1st.
CHICO, Calif. – Ready or not, its nearly time to hit the pitch as Chico Youth Soccer kicks their season off on Saturday, February 1.
Action News Now Sports Director Matthew Kerr Wilson got the chance to spend some time with the Whalen family and their two little boys, who absolutely love the game of soccer.
With all the distractions in the world today, iPhones, tablets, E-readers, it’s important to get out stay active and live a healthy life.
“We have two boys and we live here in Chapmantown. We love coming here to 20th Street Park and playing soccer,” said Jason Whalen. “We have a very active lifestyle with two boys, always on the go playing soccer. Our oldest son Boaz plays with the Giants here, and we also love to ride bikes here all the time, so we love coming to 20th Street Park.”
“I think we just like to make it somewhat of a priority to get out enjoy play sports with other kids, playing a team setting, and just enjoy a team aspect of getting to play sports together.” Whalen continued.
Chico Youth Soccer will run eight consecutive Saturdays, starting on February 1, and ending on March 22.
It’s still an excellent time to sign your child up if you haven’t already so you can get out there and kick it, on the Pitch.
