Chris Jericho Explains Why A WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Doesn’t Matter To Him
Would Chris Jericho take a place in the WWE Hall of Fame?
Across his 34-year career, Chris Jericho spent much time in WWE, beginning with a memorable debut in the summer of 1999. Jericho went on to win a number of titles in WWE, and at one point, became the Undisputed WWE Champion. Given his success in the company, the Toronto Sun recently asked Jericho if he’d consider accepting a potential WWE Hall of Fame induction.
“I’m not one of those guys who cares about the Hall of Fame because I don’t think it’s really real anyways, so in some ways it’s like yeah, whatever. In other ways, I want to pull a Sex Pistols and just refuse to show up,” Jericho said in response. “Send a letter saying do not mention my name like Axl Rose did. What a great wrestling thing to do.
“It doesn’t matter to me, it really doesn’t,” he continued. “It’s great that guys go in there and I’m glad they get a chance to, but I’m already in the Hall of Fame. It’s more for the fans. At this point in time, I could get put in the Hall of Fame and maybe get booed out of the building, so who knows. We’ll what happens, but for right here, right now, I’m enjoying what I’m still doing. I definitely wouldn’t go in the Hall of Fame if I’m still actively performing in the ring, so we’ll see.”
Currently, Jericho works for All Elite Wrestling, where he serves as the leader of The Learning Tree. He also presently holds the Ring of Honor World Championship, with his latest title defense coming against Matt Cardona last month.

Chris Jericho, one of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history, recently opened up about why a WWE Hall of Fame induction doesn’t matter to him.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Jericho explained that he doesn’t put much stock in the WWE Hall of Fame because it is ultimately just a “popularity contest.” He noted that while he has had a successful career in WWE and has achieved numerous accolades, he doesn’t feel the need for validation from the company.
Jericho went on to say that he is more focused on his own personal accomplishments and the impact he has had on the wrestling industry as a whole. He believes that his legacy will be defined by his body of work and the connections he has made with fans, rather than a plaque in a Hall of Fame.
Ultimately, Jericho’s stance on the WWE Hall of Fame reflects his independent spirit and his desire to forge his own path in the wrestling world. While he may not be concerned with induction into the Hall of Fame, there is no denying that Chris Jericho has left an indelible mark on the industry and will be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
