With President Donald Trump returning to the White House today, some of his supporters are wondering if there’s a chance he could run for a third time.
President George Washington famously chose to bow out after two terms, but Trump, 78, might not be so keen on doing so.
The fervor of his base might spur him on to run again at the age of 82.
Could we see the 45th and 47th president become the president once again come 2028?
Can Trump run again for president in 2028

Under the current law, he can’t.
Ratified in 1951, the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits one person from serving more than two terms as president. This is the case with non-consecutive terms.
The only president to ever serve more than two terms was Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who served four times from 1932 to 1944. The amendment was passed two years after Roosevelt’s death.
Unless the 22nd Amendment was repealed or altered in some way, then there is currently no way for Trump to serve another four years in 2028, according to the Constitution.

As the 2028 presidential election approaches, many are wondering if former President Donald Trump could potentially run for office once again. The question of whether Trump can run for president in 2028 ultimately comes down to what the Constitution says on the matter.
According to the Constitution, a person can serve as president for a maximum of two terms. This means that Trump, who served one term from 2017 to 2021, would be eligible to run for a second term in 2024. If he were to win and serve a second term, he would not be able to run for a third term in 2028.
However, if Trump were to win a second term in 2024 and then step down before the end of his term, either due to resignation or impeachment, he could potentially run for president again in 2028. In this scenario, he would not have served two full terms and would still be eligible to run for office.
Ultimately, whether or not Trump could run for president in 2028 depends on the outcome of the 2024 election and any potential events that may occur during a second term. As of now, it is uncertain if Trump will choose to run for office again in the future.
