Look, I love a good rom-com. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be good for me to become obsessed. I love a friends-to-lovers trope, enemies-to-lovers, even a love-at-first-sight trope as unrealistic as it may be. However, I feel I must draw the line at the step-siblings-to-lovers trope in Culpa Mia series. Lines must be drawn!
However, Nicole Wallace, star of the steamy Wattpad-turned-book-series-turned-Prime Video movie Culpa Mía and its sequel Culpa Tuya that features step-sibling love set in Spain, has decided to defend her character’s questionable life choices.

For those of you not in the know, Culpa Mía (My Fault) and Culpa Tuya (Your Fault) follow the forbidden love story between Noah and Nick (Gabriel Guevara), two hormone-fueled teens who become step-siblings and then proceed to fall madly in love. Because of course they do.
You can watch the trailer for the second movie here:
In a recent chat on the Zach Sang Show, Wallace was asked about Noah and Nick’s relationship and how she thinks it will end.
“I think they do go up and down a lot. They’re not a very stable relationship, as one has. You know, they’re toxic,” Wallace admitted.
When Zach helpfully pointed out the elephant in the room – “They’re also step-siblings” – Wallace’s response was about as convincing as a politician’s promise during election season.

“Yeah, can’t get over that,” she quipped, before launching into defence mode.
“It’s not horrible, like they’re not family, they’re just put in a very weird situation. You know, Gossip Girl — that happens in Gossip Girl all the time, like Dan (Penn Badgley), Serena (Blake Lively), are together a lot when their parents are together. So it’s fine,” Wallace explained.
GIRL, IS IT THOUGH?
Look, I’m all for love conquering all, and I was a Serena girl through and through, but I’m just have using Gossip Girl as your moral compass is not the move.
To be fair, Wallace does have a point that Noah and Nick aren’t blood-related and didn’t grow up together. But still, maybe Wattpad stories are meant to stay on Wattpad. It’s not illegal, but it’s definitely going to make the next family Christmas awkward.
Despite the questionable ethics, Culpa Tuya promises to ramp up the drama, with new relationships threatening to shake things up for our star-crossed step-lovers. Because apparently, being step-siblings wasn’t enough of a plot twist.
The third installment of the series Culpa Nuestra (Our Fault) is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2025.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go bleach my brain and maybe watch some Squid Game to cleanse my palate.
Culpa Mia and Culpa Tuya are available to watch on Prime Video now.
