David Montgomery, Terrion Arnold full go
It’s official. David Montgomery is practicing again.
The Detroit Lions running back, who was once feared to have been lost for the season after tearing his MCL in his right knee during a Dec. 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills, was designated as a full participant Tuesday during the team’s walk-through.
After his initial diagnosis, Montgomery opted not to undergo surgery and instead chose to rehabilitate the injury with the goal of returning for the playoffs. Earlier this week, head coach Dan Campbell told reporters he expected Montgomery to be back in the lineup Saturday for the NFC divisional round showdown with the Washington Commanders.

“There will be a place for him in this game,” Campbell said. “So, it’s going to be good to get him back.”
The question is whether rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold and veteran right guard Kevin Zeitler also will be available this weekend after they were injured during the Lions‘ 31-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the regular-season finale earlier this month. Arnold left the game after hurting his right foot early in the second half and Zeitler limped off after appearing to pull his right hamstring late in the fourth quarter.
There’s good news and bad news there.
Arnold was listed as a full participant, while Zeitler was not able to practice.
In the locker room after the win over the Vikings, Arnold appeared confident he’d be on the field for the playoff opener. When a reporter asked if he expected to play, he responded, “Come on, man. You know the answer to that question.”
