Dax Shepard upgrades from cell phone to sidelines at Lions-Commanders game
DETROIT – Dax Shepard wasn’t about to watch another huge Detroit Lions game on the small screen again. This time, he decided to return home to Michigan to soak it all in.
MLive spotted the actor, who was born in a hospital in Ypsilanti and raised in Highland and Milford, on the sidelines before kickoff of the Lions-Commanders NFC Divisional playoff game.
It’s a huge upgrade in viewing from the last game when Shepard’s wife, Metro Detroit native Kristen Bell, posted a video on Instagram showing she and Shepard watching the game against the Vikings from his cell phone while they were at the Golden Globe Awards.
Michigan gospel recording artist, Caleb Carroll, will perform the national anthem before kickoff. Theo “Gridiron” Spight” and his band are the halftime act.
The Lions finished the season with a 15-2 record, earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC, a playoff bye week and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
Washington went 12-5 on the season, winning their final five games. They beat Tampa Bay on the road last week in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
If the Lions win, they would host an NFC Championship game for the first-time ever. That game would take place next weekend.
Dax Shepard, the beloved actor and host of the popular podcast “Armchair Expert,” made quite the upgrade at the recent Lions-Commanders game. Known for his love of sports and his die-hard loyalty to the Detroit Lions, Shepard decided to take his fandom to the next level by trading in his cell phone for a spot on the sidelines.
Shepard was spotted chatting with players, coaches, and even getting in on the action during warm-ups. Fans couldn’t get enough of seeing their favorite celebrity rubbing elbows with the pros and showing his support for his team in such a unique way.
As always, Shepard brought his signature wit and charm to the game, making sure to capture every moment for his loyal listeners on his podcast. It’s safe to say that this upgrade was a touchdown in Shepard’s playbook.
