De La Cruz named cover athlete for MLB The Show 25 video game
Elly De La Cruz is pressing play on 2025 in a big way.
The Cincinnati Reds star shortstop announced Monday on social media that he will be on the cover of the MLB The Show 25 video game.
De La Cruz is unquestionably one of MLB’s most electric young stars. The 23-year-old is coming off an All-Star season in which he hit 25 home runs and led the major leagues with 67 stolen bases.
“La Cocoa,” as he’s often known, is one of the game’s rare five-tool players. He ranked in the 88th percentile for average exit velocity, 98th percentile in range, and 100th percentile in sprint speed in 2024.
De La Cruz is the second consecutive Dominican-born player to adorn The Show cover after Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had the honor last year.
MLB The Show 25 is slated for release in March.
