The Detroit Lions on Monday signed 11 players to Reserve/Futures contracts, including quarterback Jake Fromm and receiver Tom Kennedy.
Others inked on futures deals include offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun and Jamarco Jones, defensive lineman Chris Smith and Isaac Ukwu, defensive backs DaRon Gilbert, Erick Hallett II, Loren Strickland and Stantley Thomas-Oliver, and linebacker Abraham Beauplan.
Jones, Smith, Ukwu , Strickland, Thomas-Oliver, Kennedy and Beauplan each appeared in at least one game with the Lions this season.
All 11 of the players finished the season on Detroit’s practice squad, so they became free agents as soon as the season ended. A futures deal does not go into effect immediately, but players signed to them will be added to the 90-man roster when the new league year begins March 12.
Members of Detroit’s practice squad at the end of the season who did not sign futures contracts Monday include running back Jermar Jefferson, receivers Maurice Alexander and Donovan Peoples-Jones, tight end James Mitchell and linebacker Kwon Alexander. That doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be back at any point, but they are currently not scheduled to be on the 90-man roster.
