The Detroit Red Wings have made a major coaching change, firing head coach Derek Lalonde and naming Todd McLellan as their new bench boss.
Lalonde, who was hired as head coach in 2020, struggled to find success with the Red Wings, leading the team to a disappointing record of 15-36-5 this season. The front office decided it was time for a change and opted to part ways with Lalonde.
In his place, the Red Wings have brought in veteran coach Todd McLellan, who brings a wealth of experience to the role. McLellan has previously served as head coach for the San Jose Sharks, Edmonton Oilers, and most recently the Los Angeles Kings.
McLellan is known for his strong leadership and ability to develop young talent, qualities that the Red Wings are hoping will help turn the team’s fortunes around. Fans are eager to see what McLellan can bring to the table and are hopeful for a brighter future under his guidance.
Stay tuned for updates as McLellan takes the reins and leads the Red Wings into a new era.
