Ex-Jets coach is about to lead Dallas Cowboys
A former Jets coach is closing in on a deal to become head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who from 2006-11 was the Jets‘ OC, is expected to be named the Cowboys head coach “no later than Friday, possibly today”, Clarence Hill of All City DLLS posted on X/Twitter on Thursday.

The Jets made the playoffs three times in Schottenheimer’s six seasons as their offensive coordinator. Since then, they’ve drawn blanks, owning the longest streak of seasons without a postseason appearance in American professional sports.
Schottenheimer has served as offensive coordinator on four different teams over 14 of his 23 years in the NFL. After his stint with the Jets, he was OC for then-St. Louis Rams for three seasons and he had the same role with the Seattle Seahawks, helping head coach Pete Carroll reach three consecutive playoff appearances with quarterback Russell Wilson.
After two seasons as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator — the first of which Dallas’ offense ranked No. 1 in the NFL in points and fifth in yards — owner Jerry Jones is ready to lock him up as his head coach. He will replace Mike McCarthy, who posted a 49-35 regular-season record as head coach.
In his tenure with the Jets, Schottenheimer coached under Mike Mangini and Rex Ryan, who was recently passed over for Aaron Glenn for the Jets’ head coaching vacancy.

Former New York Jets head coach, Adam Gase, is reportedly set to take on a new coaching role with the Dallas Cowboys. After being let go by the Jets following a disappointing 2-14 season, Gase is eager for a fresh start with America’s Team.
Gase, known for his offensive expertise, will bring a new perspective to the Cowboys and could potentially help revitalize their struggling offense. With star quarterback Dak Prescott returning from injury, Gase will have plenty of talent to work with and the potential to make a significant impact on the team.
Many fans are excited to see what Gase can bring to the table and are hopeful that his experience and leadership will help the Cowboys reach their full potential in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting coaching development.
