Accusations were raised in early December by country-folk singer-songwriter Oliver Anthony against Parker McCollum using autotune, backing tracks, and drum loops. While Anthony did not name McCollum by name, fans were quick to point out Anthony’s not-so-subtle references. Three weeks later, a fan dropped an “F-bomb” directed at Anthony during a McCollum concert. McCollum said: “Word.”

Parker McCollum performed at the Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Kansas on December 28. There, during his set, one fan yelled “Fu*k Oliver Anthony.” Clearly, the fan was not too pleased with Oliver Anthony’s words against the Conroe, Texas singer. McCollum didn’t doubt for a single second and quickly answered back, with the interaction recorded and posted on social media

“Word,” McCollum said as fans laughed and cheered. “And I just want you guys to know that when you come see my show, when you come see me and these guys right here, there ain’t a damn thing fake about it. You understand what I’m sayin’?”

So, what did Oliver Anthony say? During a 15-minute YouTube video titled “What I’ve Learned from the Music Industry So Far…” Anthony heavily criticized, as you might expect, the current state of the country music industry. During the most controversial part of the video, Anthony referred to a certain “act” he didn’t mention.

“A lot of these mainstream acts run backing tracks. Like I’ll never forget, I won’t say who the act is, but I think it was in South Carolina at the Myrtle Beach one,” Antony said. “The band who played after us, that dude had six autotune modulators on a pedal board on stage, just to help him with vocal pitch live. And they had backing tracks and drum loops running.”

The Myrtle Beach festival he was referring to was the Carolina Country Music Fest. Fans were quick to conclude that the “act” Anthony was referring to was no other than Parker McCollum. McCollum performed right after Anthony.

McCollum Answers Back

Four days after Anthony published the aforementioned video, Parker McCollum addressed the situation in an Instagram video, published on December 8.

“Hey guys, per the Oliver Anthony interview or whatever it was claiming that he saw drum loop modulars or whatever he called it, I don’t even know what that is… 100% fabricated lie. Never ever, ever, ever one time have I used autotune or a drum loop or anything fake of any kind on stage,” McCollum said.

“Me and my guys are ripping it the real deal, every single night. It has never been one single part of our show, not one note, that was not live, raw, and in the moment. 100% fabricated story. That is 100% a lie,” he continued. “And that will never change. We will always be out there really swinging it as a real band, trying to do our best to respect country music. So, that’s all I’ve got to say on it, and that’s where it needs to end. Thank y’all.”

Will the autotune feud continue between Oliver Anthony and Parker McCollum? As long as fans continue to cuss each artist out during the other’s performances, then it appears we are far from seeing the drama coming to an end.

At a recent Parker McCollum concert, a fan was caught on camera yelling “F–k Oliver Anthony” in the middle of the performance. The outburst caused quite a stir among concert-goers, with many expressing shock and disapproval of the disrespectful comment.

Oliver Anthony is a rising country music artist who has been gaining traction in the industry, and it’s unclear why the fan decided to target him during McCollum’s set. Some speculate that there may be a rivalry between the two artists, while others believe it was simply a drunken outburst.

Regardless of the reason, the incident serves as a reminder to always show respect and appreciation for artists, regardless of personal preferences. Disrespectful behavior like this has no place at a concert, where everyone should be able to enjoy the music and have a good time.

Let’s hope that this incident was just an isolated incident and that fans will continue to support both Parker McCollum and Oliver Anthony in their respective music careers. Let’s keep the focus on the music and leave the negativity at home.
