ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Trump is expected to tour Helene hit areas to see recovery efforts and is also expected to also bring newly appointed interim FEMA director, Cameron Hamilton.
President Trump’s arrival is anticipated at the Asheville airport sometime at or after 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.
Hamilton, a former Navy SEAL regularly appears on Fox News as a military analyst.
The 47-year-old conservative married father of three also ran for Congress in an unsuccessful bid for a Virginia seat in a Democratic district.

On social media, Hamilton has been a Trump supporter and critic of FEMA in the Helene aftermath.
“President Trump has appointed a number of people who are prominent critics of their agencies,” said Eric Heberlig, a political scientist at UNC Charlotte. “To lead those agencies. This is part of his attempt to shake things up.”
He graduated from Campbell University outside Raleigh and his aunt and uncle reportedly live in Murphy.
Hamilton has no experience running a federal emergency agency nor has he ever worked for FEMA.

He served as Director of the Emergency Medical Division at Homeland Security’s Office of Health Security.
Hamilton has not spoken publicly yet in his new interim FEMA role, but posted on X, “I’m honored to serve” on Monday, Jan. 20.
Friday, if he does end up accompanying Trump, this could be the first time Hamilton officially speaks in his new interim FEMA role.
