As students in the field of counseling, we spend countless hours in the classroom learning theories, techniques, and ethical guidelines. However, the transition from student to professional can be a daunting and challenging process. It is during our field experience that we truly begin to develop our professional identity and put our knowledge into practice.

During my field experience, I have had the opportunity to work with clients in a real-world setting, under the supervision of a licensed professional. This hands-on experience has been invaluable in helping me to apply what I have learned in the classroom to actual client situations. I have had the chance to observe and participate in counseling sessions, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with other professionals in the field.

One of the biggest challenges I have faced during this transition is finding my own voice and style as a counselor. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of ourselves when working with clients for the first time. However, through the guidance and support of my supervisor, I have been able to gain confidence in my abilities and trust in my own instincts.

As I continue on this journey from student to professional, I am learning the importance of self-care and boundaries in maintaining a healthy and sustainable practice.
