Top light heavyweight contenders David Benavidez and David Morrell clash at T-Mobile Arena, with the winner set to be named mandatory challenger for the winner of Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s undisputed title rematch in late February.
The matchup pits two of the division’s top unbeaten contenders against each other in their prime, with Benavidez staking his interim WBC light heavyweight title, while Morrell’s WBA “Regular” title is also on the line.
“I’ve been working extremely hard,” Benavidez said on Wednesday. “I told you all I was going to break David Morrell’s face and that’s exactly what I’m going to do on Saturday.”
