The nation’s most speculated recruiting battle is finally coming to an end. Caleb Wilson announced Friday on the “College Basketball Show” that he has cut his list down to a final three and has set his commitment date.

The No. 8 overall recruit in the country said he has cut his list down to  Ohio State, Kentucky and North Carolina, and will announce his decision on Thursday, Jan. 23.

“I’ll be committing next Thursday, it’ll be on a huge platform and I’m excited for it,” he said on the show.

The 6-foot-9 power forward out of Atlanta (Ga.) Holy Innocents Episcopal School has been in the midst of one of the most monitored and discussed recruitments this cycle. He outlined what stands out about each of his three finalists.

Ohio State: “Coach Diebler, he’s a great coach, I really enjoyed my visit there, it was extremely fun and exciting. They have a great guard in Bruce Thornton. I feel like that’s going to be very important, the guard I play with next year, so that’s why I like Ohio State.”

Kentucky: “Mark Pope is a great guy on and off the court. He coaches with energy and they’re having a great year this year. They’re playing very good. Their system really fits a long ‘4’ like me in the way that they play. And it’s a blueblood so that’s one of the best fan bases and basketball cultures in the country.”

North Carolina: “Coach Davis is a great guy on and off the court also. North Carolina is a prestigious university. They have a great team and I feel like I can go to that team, step up and become the man at North Carolina. I definitely feel like it’d be a great opportunity. With Elliot Cadeau possibly returning, that’d be a great guard to play with.”

In providing a self assessment, Wilson explained what the fans of the school he chooses should expect from him.

“You’ve be getting … I play with extreme effort and passion. I can defend the best player, no matter what position they play. I can play multiple positions offensively and defensively. I’m a willing passer and I make good decisions. And also I’m a leader, most importantly first and foremost. I’m always looking to get better…”

That fan base will find out soon. The announcement is six days away.
