Flack Broadcasting – Barneveld Fire Department issues statement in wake of unauthorized control burn near Amish sawmill
ONEIDA COUNTY- Barneveld Fire Department says it is aware of an unauthorized control burn in the town of Trenton and is currently coordinating with the New York State DEC and other local authorities.
On Monday night, the department issued a statement to bring awareness to what is being referred to as an “unauthorized” control burn at an Amish sawmill, located on State Route 365 between Mapledale Road and Korber Road.
Chief Kevin Kalk says the burn was inaccessible for fire apparatus, due to recent heavy snowfall.
To clarify, it appears as if waste slabs are being burned from the sawmill and there are no structures nearby, the fire chief emphasized.
