Fox News Hosts Asks Why Would a Husband Grocery Shop With His Wife — But Is It Good for the Marriage?
On Wednesday, January 23, during one of his hour-long news shows, Fox News host Jesse Watters questioned men who grocery shop with their wives.
In a clip from the show that is now going viral on X, Watters is talking about video captured by The New York Post.
The clip reveals former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, grocery shopping together.
“What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife,” Watters asked. And the question has fellow X users scratching their collective heads.
“A normal one,” a commenter answered.

“My wonderful husband does,” another added.
“It’s so odd to openly declare on air that your marriage is devoid of happiness and connection, but you do you, Jesse,” one commenter wrote.
“Does Jesse Watters sit in the car while his wife does the shopping,” another asked.
“This is old school. I have no problem with this,” a commenter wrote. “My parents always did grocery shopping together.”
Chrissy Teigen also took to her Instagram Story to share the clip, writing, “We are in bizarro world where anyone can just say anything weird and half the country is like hell yeah.”
It turns out, in 2023, Global matchmaker and CEO of Vows for Eternity, Anurahda Gupta, told Metro UK that she believes grocery shopping as a couple “can make your relationship stronger.”
Gupta said grocery shopping “can feel like a date” if you “approach it with the right attitude.”
“By treating it as a chance to spend quality time together, you can make grocery shopping an enjoyable and even romantic activity that helps you connect with your partner,” she adds.

“Whether you play a game of rock, paper, scissors to choose who picks the appetiser, main and dessert, or simply enjoy holding hands, walking round the store, couples can make the most out of their weekly shop and strengthen their bond in the process.”
Gupta adds that grocery shopping together can help with communication and can also help prove if you work together as a team.
“[It’s a great] opportunity for couples to see how well they work together, especially when it comes to decision-making and problem-solving,” she told Metro Uk.
“By working together to navigate the store, manage their budget, and tackle their shopping list, couples can develop a sense of teamwork and shared responsibility,” she continued. “Even when disagreements arise, grocery shopping can offer a chance to practice communication skills and conflict resolution. This kind of collaboration and mutual support can build a more resilient relationship.”
Fox News Hosts Asks Why Would a Husband Grocery Shop With His Wife — But Is It Good for the Marriage?
Recently, a Fox News host sparked controversy by questioning why a husband would grocery shop with his wife. The host argued that traditional gender roles dictate that the wife should handle grocery shopping while the husband focuses on other tasks.
However, many couples today are challenging these outdated gender norms and choosing to grocery shop together. But is this trend actually good for the marriage?
Some experts believe that grocery shopping together can strengthen a couple’s bond by providing an opportunity for shared decision-making and teamwork. It can also encourage communication and compromise, as couples navigate preferences and budget constraints together.
On the other hand, some may argue that grocery shopping together can lead to disagreements and conflict, particularly if one partner is more particular about their food choices or spending habits. It can also be a source of stress if one partner feels pressured to make decisions quickly or compromise on their preferences.
Ultimately, whether grocery shopping together is good for a marriage depends on the couple’s communication style, ability to compromise, and individual preferences. Some couples may find it to be a fun and enjoyable activity that strengthens their relationship, while others may prefer to divide the task and shop separately.
What do you think? Is grocery shopping together good for a marriage, or should couples stick to traditional gender roles when it comes to household chores? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
