Frying up potato donuts at the PA Farm Show

TRAFFIC AROUND THE FARM SHOW COMPLEX IN HARRISBURG. THAT’S BECAUSE THE FOOD COURT OPENS TODAY, AND YOU’LL GET YOUR FIRST CHANCE TO TRY OUT THIS YEAR’S MENU. MATT BARCARO ALREADY DOING THAT. HE’S LIVE AT THE COMPLEX FOR US AGAIN THIS MORNING AT A NEW LOCATION FOR A FARM SHOW STAPLE. MATT. GOOD MORNING. CAITLIN. YEAH, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT THE COOPERATIVE POTATO GROWERS POTATO DONUTS. OF COURSE, THIS IS A MAINSTAY FEATURE OF THE FOOD COURT, AND YOU CAN STILL GET THEM THERE, OF COURSE. BUT NEW THIS YEAR THEY’RE MAKING SOME OF THOSE POTATO DONUTS IN THE MAIN HALL. WE ARE JUST STEPS AWAY FROM THE BUTTER SCULPTURE, AND YOU’LL BE ABLE TO FIND THE FRYER BECAUSE IT JUST SMELLS SO GOOD OVER HERE. ALSO, ONE OF THE REASONS THEY MOVED OVER HERE TO TO SHOW YOU THIS PROCESS IS THAT IN THE FOOD COURT, IT’S A LITTLE HARD TO SEE THE MACHINES GOING. BUT IF YOU NOTICE OVER HERE THEY HAVE A VIEWING WINDOW SO YOU CAN REALLY GET UP CLOSE TO SEE THIS PROCESS. AND WE WANT TO BRING IN NATHAN TOLMAN FROM THE COOPERATIVE TO TALK ABOUT JUST THE EXCITEMENT OF FARM SHOW AND WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE POTATO GROWERS. OH, THIS IS AN AMAZING TIME OF YEAR. POTATOES ARE A CELEBRITY AT PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW, AND WE LOVE IT EVERY YEAR. IT’S JUST AMAZING. AND I’M GOING TO HELP YOU FLIP SOME OF THESE IF THEY NEED IT RIGHT HERE. AND YOU WERE ALSO TALKING TO ME EARLIER ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE POTATO GROWERS AT THE FARM SHOW AND HOW THEY ACTUALLY GOT THEIR START OFFERING FOOD HERE. YEAH. SO SO FARM SHOWS 109 YEARS OLD THIS YEAR AND SOME OF THE FIRST FARM SHOWS, THEY WERE SELLING BAKED POTATOES OUT OF COOLERS, OUT ON CAMERON STREET TO THE TRAFFIC COMING INTO FARM SHOW. SO THAT’S HOW WE GOT OUR START. SO FROM BAKED POTATOES AND COOLERS TO MADE TO ORDER POTATO DONUTS RIGHT HERE WE TALK ABOUT HOW BIG OF A DEAL THIS IS FOR THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY IN PENNSYLVANIA. IT’S A LOT OF FUN. PEOPLE COME TO THE FOOD COURT TO GET THE FOOD, BUT IT REALLY SHOWS THE HARD WORK THAT IT TAKES EVERY DAY TO PRODUCE THIS FOOD. YEAH, IT’S THIS IS GREAT FOR OUR ORGANIZATION. IT’S ONE OF OUR BIGGEST FUNDRAISERS OF THE YEAR BECAUSE OUR DAY TO DAY IS SUPPORTING THE POTATO GROWERS OF PENNSYLVANIA. AND SELLING POTATOES TO THE SNACK FOOD MANUFACTURERS HERE IN OUR STATE. VERY GOOD. ALL RIGHT. I DON’T THINK THE MACHINE IS DOING A GOOD JOB. WE MAY NOT HAVE TO TO FLIP ANY, BUT YOU CAN GET THEM HERE. THE FOOD COURT OPENS, BY THE WAY, AT NOON TODAY. IT’S FREE TO PARK SO YOU CAN GET IN HERE. THIS PART OF THE FARM SHOW WILL OPEN TOMORROW WHEN EVERYTHING OPENS IN THE MORNING. SO BE SURE TO CHECK THIS OUT. I ALSO WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO A LOT OF NEWS 8 VIEWERS WHO CHECKED OUT MY FACEBOOK PAGE LAST NIGHT AND HELPED ME PICK OUT MY FARM SHOW SHIRT. SO THEY THEY THEY SETTLED ON THE RED ONE. SO THANKS FOR ALL THOSE WHO HELPED ME GET DRESSED THIS MORNING. IT WOULDN’T BE FARM SHOW, RIGHT, NATHAN? WITHOUT A NICE PLAID? YEAH, YOU NEED PLAID. I GOT PLAID, MAN. WE GOT THE MEMO FROM YOU. GOT IT? YOU GOT IT. THIS IS HOW YOU DO FARM SHOW. SO BRING YOUR PLAID AND GET ON IN LINE HERE STARTING AT NOON TO GET YOUR FOOD COURT FIX. CAITLIN, YOU BOTH ARE LOOKING GOOD. YEAH. LOOKING GREAT. AND SO DO THOSE POTATO DONUTS. AND I LOVE THAT THERE IS THE WINDOW THERE. BECAUSE I THINK PART OF THE FARM SHOW IS ALL ABOUT EDUCATION, RIGHT? SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT GOES INTO MAKING THOSE DONUTS. YES.
