Most publications have rolled out their way-too-early top 25 for the 2025 college football season. These publications will adjust their rankings several times before the official preseason rankings come out this summer. Georgia is coming off an 11-3 season, winning the SEC Championship, and losing in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl.
As far as starters departing, as of now, Georgia loses quarterback Carson Beck, running back Trevor Etienne, wide receivers Arian Smith and Dominic Lovett, offensive linemen Xavier Truss, Dylan Fairchild, Jared Wilson, and Tate Ratledge on offense. On defense, they lose defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse, defensive end Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, linebackers Jalon Walker and Chaz Chambliss, cornerback Julian Humphrey, and safeties Malaki Starks and Dan Jackson.
Georgia is set to open the 2025 season on Aug. 30 at home against Marshall. The top 25 matchups on Georgia’s schedule based on the 247Sports way-too-early Top 25 are at No. 9 Tennessee on Sept. 13, vs No. 8 Alabama on Sept. 27, vs No. 20 Auburn on Oct. 11, vs No. 19 Ole Miss on Oct. 18, vs No. 13 Florida in Jacksonville on Nov. 1, and vs No. 1 Texas on Nov. 15.

As we look ahead to the 2025 college football season, it’s never too early to start speculating on where the Georgia Bulldogs may land in the rankings. With a strong recruiting class and returning talent, here are our way-too-early rankings for Georgia football in 2025:
1. Georgia Bulldogs
With head coach Kirby Smart at the helm and a roster stacked with top-tier talent, the Bulldogs are poised to be a force to be reckoned with in the 2025 season. Their defense is expected to be one of the best in the country, led by a dominant defensive line and a secondary that can shut down any passing attack.
2. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is always a perennial powerhouse in college football, and 2025 will be no exception. With quarterback Bryce Young leading the offense and a strong defense, the Crimson Tide will once again be a top contender for the national championship.
3. Ohio State Buckeyes
Led by head coach Ryan Day, the Buckeyes are expected to have a potent offense in 2025. Quarterback Quinn Ewers is projected to be a star, and with a solid defense to back him up, Ohio State will be a tough team to beat.
4. Clemson Tigers
Despite a down year in 2024, Clemson is expected to bounce back in 2025. Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei will lead the offense, and the Tigers’ defense is always a force to be reckoned with. Expect Clemson to be back in contention for the ACC title.
5. Oklahoma Sooners
With quarterback Caleb Williams leading the offense, the Sooners are expected to be a high-scoring team in 2025. Head coach Brent Venables will also bring a strong defensive mindset to Oklahoma, making them a well-rounded team to watch.
