ATLANTA — Many school districts around Georgia are closed Tuesday and are announcing plans for Wednesday as winter weather descends on the Peach State.

Gov. Brian Kemp also issued a State of Emergency in advance of the weather to mobilize resources and response efforts.

That covers today (Tuesday, January 21) — but what about Wednesday, January 22? The snowfall on Tuesday is expected to give way to icy conditions on the roads that could necessitate further school district decisions.

Several school districts that did open Tuesday in parts of the greater Atlanta region have announced early releases. 11Alive is monitoring throughout the day for announcements about Wednesday. To see the full list of school closings, click here.
