‘Gladiator II’ Ends Theatrical Run. How Much Did It Make?

Gladiator II—Ridley Scott’s action epic starring Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal—has ended its run in theaters.
Directed by Scott, Gladiator II is the long-awaited sequel to the filmmakers’ 2000 Best Picture Oscar winner Gladiator. The logline for Gladiator II reads, “After his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now lead Rome, Lucius is forced to enter the Colosseum and must look to his past to find strength to return the glory of Rome to its people.”
Mescal plays Lucius in Gladiator II, while Connie Nielsen reprises her role as Lucius’ mother, Lucilla, from 2000’s Gladiator. Washington also stars a manipulative power broker, Macrinus, in the film, while Pascal plays Roman General Marcus Acacius, who is married to Lucilla.
Joseph Quinn also stars in Gladiator II as Emperor Geta while Fred Hechinger plays his brother, Emperor Caracalla.
As indicated by The Numbers’ weekly theater count report ahead of the box office weekend starting on Jan 31, Gladiator II is no longer playing in theaters.
The box office tracker reported that the film made $9,448 from 237 theaters on Thursday, boosting its final domestic gross to $172,438,016.
Coupled with the $288,087,520 the film made in international theaters, The Numbers reported that Gladiator II’s final worldwide box office tally is $460,525,536 against a $250 million budget before prints and advertising costs.

‘Gladiator II’ Was Almost Entirely Ignored By The Oscars
Unlike it’s 2000 predecessor, Gladiator II has largely been ignored this awards season. In addition to winning the Best Picture Oscar, Gladiator captured five Academy Awards overall including Best Actor for Russell Crowe.
Gladiator was nominated for 12 Oscars total, including Best Director for Ridley Scott and Best Supporting Actor for Joaquin Phoenix.
By contrast, Gladiator II was all but shut out of the 2025 Oscar nominations, with its sole nod coming for Best Costume Design.
Denzel Washington, which earned Best Supporting Actor nominations from the NAACP Image Awards, the Critics’ Choice Awards and Golden Globes, was snubbed in his bid for an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. Washington’s performace was also ignored in the nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards and British Academy of Film and Television Awards.
While Gladiator II has ended its run in theaters, the R-rated action adventure epic is available on digital streaming via premium video on demand, as well as on streaming video on demand on Paramount+ following its debut on the platform on Jan. 21.
After a successful theatrical run, “Gladiator II” has officially ended its run in cinemas. The highly anticipated sequel to the iconic 2000 film starring Russell Crowe has garnered a total box office revenue of $325 million worldwide.
Fans of the original film were thrilled to see Crowe reprise his role as Maximus Decimus Meridius in the action-packed sequel, which followed the character on a new journey of vengeance and redemption. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its thrilling fight sequences, epic storytelling, and stunning visuals.
Despite facing stiff competition at the box office, “Gladiator II” managed to hold its own and attract a dedicated fan base. The success of the film has sparked rumors of a possible third installment in the franchise, leaving fans eager for more of Maximus’ epic adventures.
Overall, “Gladiator II” proved to be a worthy successor to the beloved original film and solidified its place as a modern classic in the action-adventure genre.
