Gleyber Torres is taking his talents to the Midwest.
The now ex-Yankee second baseman is signing a contract with the Detroit Tigers, The Post’s Jon Heyman first reported Friday.
Torres, 28, had been looking for a new contract from the Yankees as one of their more durable players, having appeared in 158 and 154 games, respectively, over the last two seasons.

He hit .257 last season with 15 home runs, 63 RBIs and a .709 OPS.
His 1.8 WAR was the worst figure he has had in his career for a full season.
The Yankees are still looking to fill out their infield, but in-house options to replace him include third baseman Jazz Chisholm and DJ LeMahieu.
In a shocking turn of events, Gleyber Torres has officially signed with the Detroit Tigers, marking the end of his time with the New York Yankees. The young infielder was a key piece of the Yankees’ lineup for several seasons, but it seems that a new chapter is beginning for Torres in Detroit.
Tigers fans are ecstatic to welcome Torres to their team, as he brings a wealth of talent and potential to the lineup. With his impressive hitting and defensive skills, Torres is sure to make a big impact in Detroit.
On the other hand, Yankees fans are saddened to see Torres go, as he was a fan favorite and a key player in their lineup. However, it seems that the Yankees had other plans in mind for their roster, leading to Torres’ departure.
Only time will tell how Torres will fare with the Tigers, but one thing is for certain – his presence on the field will be greatly missed in New York. Good luck to Gleyber Torres in this new chapter of his career with the Detroit Tigers.
