In chatting with film fans on social media; I’ve come across many viewers who are keen to revisit Guy Pearce pictures or discover his hidden gems anew thanks to the growing awards buzz he has been getting for his performance in The Brutalist. My movie friends, the free streaming platforms are here for you!
Here’s a breakdown of the abundant Guy Pearce films available this January on Tubi (films are available in Canada and the United States, unless otherwise stated).

Certainly, Memento (US Only) is essential Guy Pearce viewing thanks to director Christopher Nolan, but so is the 2012 sci-fi romp Lockout (US Only). Despite the Escape from L.A. copycatting, action hero Pearce carries Lockout with sardonic wit – contrasting the bitter, dirty excellence of the 2005 Australian western The Proposition (US Only) written by Nick Cave. Likewise Traitor remains a compelling, globe trotting terrorism thriller co-starring Don Cheadle, and Brimstone is a disturbing horror western with Pearce’s demented ministry playing in four out of order acts.
If you’re looking for an ABBA infused, rainbow embracing comedy, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert is a must see, and the 1996 Australian body swap hoot Dating the Enemy is a battle of the sexes full of throwback charm. The Down Under 2002 heist caper The Hard Word (US Only) has a lot of humorous winks, too – including a fake nose for bank-robbing Pearce.

For tender dramas, look no further than 2013’s complicated rather than illicit Breathe In with The Brutalist co-star Felicity Jones, the psychological self-fulfilling prophecy of First Snow (US Only), and the surprisingly charming 33 Postcards (US Only) concerning inmate Pearce and his orphaned pen pal. Wholesome long form entertainment can also be found in Four Seasons of the Australian western Snowy River: The McGregor Saga.
Fair warning there are a few bad Guy Pearce movies like the contemporary western Disturbing the Peace and Seeking Justice co-starring Nicolas Cage freely available, too. Low budget horror films such as The Seventh Day or Sunrise (US Only); brief cameo appearances in Domino, Genius (US Only), and The Road; and unevenly executed pieces like Death Defying Acts (US Only), Fragments (US Only), and Swinging Safari also aren’t the best showcase for what Guy Pearce can do.
Fortunately, free streaming services like Tubi remain an archive to re-discover and explore Guy Pearce’s superb oeuvre.
