Hoda Kotb Gets Emotional From Savannah Guthrie’s Secret Santa Gift

Hoda Kotb broke down in tears when she saw the sentimental gift Savannah Guthrie made for her just weeks before she leaves TODAY.

During TODAY’s Secret Santa that aired on Dec. 25, Savannah gifted Hoda a keepsake that read “May you find a light to guide you home” with a heart on it and some wishing candles.

Hoda, whose last day on TODAY is set for Jan. 10, got emotional when she unwrapped the gift, struggling to form the proper words. She explained that the phrase is “a beautiful song that Savannah gave to me every time I was going through something new.”

The song, called “May You Find a Light” by Josh Garrels, then began to play on set.

“Oh my God! It’s too much,” Hoda added of the memento and the wishing candles.

“I thought you could put it on your desk in the morning when you’re reading your stuff,” Savannah explained.

But Hoda was still too caught up in the thoughtful gift, lamenting over her favorite part of it.

“You know what I love about this the most,” she said, motioning to the gift. “That’s your handwriting.”

Savannah confirmed she wrote it, and the two of them hugged.

“I love you,” Hoda said.

“Cutie, I love you,” Savannah responded.

As for the rest of the Secret Santa gifts, Craig Melvin got Savannah a dog sweater for her new puppy, Fetch. Then, Craig opened his gift from Hoda, who got him a Mets sherpa. Carson Daly opened his gift from Al Roker, who got him a giant jacket to throw on after his daily cold plunges. Since Al wasn’t there for the Secret Santa, Carson revealed what he got the weatherman: a legacy journal.

“These were all beautiful gifts, I have to say, wow” Hoda added.
