Houston weather: School closures and delays for Wednesday, Jan. 22

HOUSTON – With snow and ice in the forecast, several Houston area school districts will be closed on Wednesday.

The growing list of closures is below.

School Closures

Houston ISD

There will be no school on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, due to winter weather conditions.

Arrow Academy

All Arrow campuses will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, due to pending inclement weather predictions.

Baylor College of Medicine

Baylor College of Medicine and its clinics will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, due to continued hazardous weather conditions. Patients will be contacted for rescheduling.

Baytown Christian Academy

School and all after-school activities for Wednesday, January 22, are canceled.

Boling ISD

Boling ISD is closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Clear Creek ISD

The Clear Creek Independent School District will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, due to inclement weather.

Cleveland ISD

Cleveland ISD will be closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

College of Biblical Studies

College of Biblical Studies campus will be closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Classes and operations will continue remotely.

Columbia-Brazoria ISD

CBISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22nd.

Conroe ISD

Conroe ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22.

Cornerstone Christian Academy

Cornerstone Christian Academy will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Corrigan-Camden ISD

Corrigan-Camden ISD will close tomorrow, January 22nd due to potential icy road conditions.

Crosby ISD

Crosby ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, due to the impact of the predicted winter storm.

Dickinson ISD

Dickinson ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Wednesday are also canceled.

Etoile Academy Charter School

Etoile Academy Charter School (both campuses) will be closed Wednesday due to the winter storm.

Friendswood ISD

Friendswood ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22. This closure includes all after-school activities.

Hempstead ISD

All Hempstead ISD schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, due to hazardous winter weather conditions. All scheduled activities and events have also been canceled.

Houston Christian University

Houston Christian University will be closed Wednesday, January 22 due to the potential for prolonged dangerous driving conditions.

Humble ISD

Humble ISD is closed on Wednesday, January 22, due to the weather forecast.

International Leadership of Texas

All International Leadership of Texas (ILTexas) Houston Area campuses will be closed Wednesday 1/22.

Katy ISD

All Katy ISD campuses and facilities will be closed on Wednesday Jan. 22, due to hazardous weather conditions.

KIPP Texas-Houston

All KIPP Texas-Houston schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 22.

Klein ISD

All Klein ISD schools and facilities will be closed on Wednesday (1/22/2025).

La Porte ISD

La Porte ISD will be closed on Wednesday out of an abundance of caution, because of the inclement weather forecast.

Montgomery ISD

Montgomery ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, due to expected snowfall, freezing rain, and hazardous road conditions.

New Caney ISD

New Caney ISD and all district schools will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22. Also, all extracurricular activities, athletics events, and practices scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed.

Needville ISD

Needville ISD is closed on Wednesday, Jan. 22, due to inclement weather.

Post Oak School

The Post Oak School will be closed Wednesday, January 22.

Prairie View A&M University

All Prairie View A&M University campuses will shift to virtual operations on Wednesday, January 22.

Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success (RYSS) School District

The district will be closed on Wednesday, January 22nd.

Rice University

Rice University will move to remote work and class delivery on Wednesday, Jan. 22. No in-person classes are allowed for safety reasons. Those who cannot work remotely should notify their supervisors. Santa Fe ISD

SFISD campuses and departments will be closed on Wednesday. This includes all extracurricular activities.

Sealy ISD

Sealy ISD will be closed Wednesday, January 22nd. All after school activities will be cancelled as well. Sealy ISD will resume normal operations on Thursday, January 23rd.

South Texas College of Law

South Texas College of Law will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Southwest Public Schools

Southwest Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday due to inclement weather.

Spring ISD

Spring ISD schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, due to the forecast of hazardous winter weather conditions.

Spring Branch ISD

All SBISD schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025.

Stafford Municipal School District

All district schools and operations will be closed on Wednesday, January 22nd, due to anticipated severe weather conditions.

Sweeny ISD

Sweeny ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Tarkington ISD

TISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22nd.

Texas Southern University

TSU is closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Texas Woman’s University

Due to winter weather, TWU Houston will again suspend operations and in-person classes for Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. Supervisors and professors will reach out with guidance.

Tomball ISD

Tomball ISD schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, January 22 in anticipation of an unprecedented winter weather event that will severely impact transportation.

University of Houston-Downtown

University of Houston-Downtown will close all campuses on Wednesday, Jan. 22, due to expected hazardous winter weather conditions.

Varnett Public Schools

The Varnett Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 22nd, due to weather conditions.

Waller ISD

Waller ISD will be closed Jan. 22 due to winter weather.

Wharton County Junior College

Wharton County Junior College will close all campuses on Wednesday, Jan. 22, due to inclement weather. This closing includes online courses, activities and events.

Timeline:

The snow wound down on Tuesday, but the cold temperatures will stick around.

Temperatures are going to climb above freezing for most of our area later on Tuesday.

The snow that has fallen could melt later today and then re-freeze overnight as temperatures plunge back below freezing.

That means there could be black ice on the roads on Wednesday morning.
