How a Brandon Lake Song Got Jelly Roll to Worship Again

Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll are continuing to tease their upcoming collaboration, “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” and the country singer is opening up about how the original song impacted him.

“The first time I heard ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah,’ I haven’t had a record touch me like that in so long,” Jelly Roll — whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord — said in a new video. “It’s been years since I worshiped the way that I worshiped to that song. Because I carry my faith with me, but I’m also struggling, and very honest and open about that.”

Jelly Roll sat down with Lake to explain why he wanted to collaborate with the worship artist in the first place.

“I’ve been so bitter and hurt by the Church and their dogma that I created my own now,” Jelly Roll said. “Because I believe music meets us where we are. I needed that record when I heard it, but then to double back and be like, ‘Yo, there’s a chance you could work on this record with this guy,’ and I’m like, ‘Whoa, God sent me the record for me.’ Not only does He want me to listen to it and worship, He wants me to live with it and learn.”

The collaboration is set to be released on Feb. 7.

Brandon Lake, a popular Christian music artist, recently released a powerful song called “House of Miracles” that had a profound impact on rapper Jelly Roll’s life. Jelly Roll, known for his gritty and raw lyrics, had been struggling with his faith and had stopped going to church for years. However, after hearing Lake’s song, something stirred within him and he felt compelled to give worship another chance.

In an interview, Jelly Roll shared how the lyrics of “House of Miracles” spoke to him on a deep level and reignited his passion for God. He was moved by the message of hope and redemption in the song, and it inspired him to seek out a local church and start attending services again. Jelly Roll admitted that he had lost his way spiritually, but thanks to Brandon Lake’s music, he found his way back to God.

The collaboration between Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll may seem unlikely, but it just goes to show the power of music to touch hearts and inspire change. Lake’s song not only touched the lives of his Christian audience but also reached someone who may have never considered listening to Christian music before. This story serves as a reminder that music has the power to transcend boundaries and bring people together in unexpected ways.
