Injury update gives Sacramento Kings something to look forward to

When you are 14-19,12th in your conference, and fresh off firing your head coach (who you just recently extended), it is hard to find things to be excited about.

Such is life for the Sacramento Kings, who have arguably had the most doomsday case scenario of any NBA team in 2024-25.

Barring a massive turnaround, it will be hard for fans of the team to find excitement around this Kings’ team on a night-to-night basis. Fortunately, the Kings have a player coming back from injury that everyone associated with the team will be excited to see.

Devin Carter’s debut is coming soon

No matter where your rooting interest lies, everyone loves watching young players. That is because they are new and have a seemingly limitless ceiling for their career arc.

The Kings are a primarily veteran team. So, they don’t have too many young players (another reason why the vibes around the team are so grim). But the team does have their 2024 first round pick, Devin Carter – a player many draft analysts view as being a steal at where the Kings’ selected him (13th overall).

Unfortunately, the Kings have yet to experience their rookie combo guard, as Carter has been out for the entire season as he recovers from offseason shoulder injury. But it looks like the wait to see what the future of the team looks like will soon be over.

On Wednesday, the Kings announced that they were calling Carter up from the Stockton Kings to the big leagues.

Carter has been with the Stockton Kings to help him ramp up his conditioning in order to get back to game shape. Believe it or not, you need to be able to run for extended periods of time when you play professional basketball.

Anyway, Carter getting called back up to the NBA team means that he’s almost ready to make his debut. We already know it won’t be tonight (January 1, 2025) against the Philadelphia 76ers. But it could be literally any game after that (meaning we could see him on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies).

Now, given his youth and the logjam the Kings have at guard, it is highly unlikely that Carter makes a huge impact on this team in 2025. Still, it will be really cool getting to see an exciting young player on this roster.

The Sacramento Kings received some positive news today as an injury update on key players has given the team something to look forward to. Star point guard De’Aaron Fox is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is expected to return to the court soon.

Additionally, forward Harrison Barnes is also close to making his comeback after dealing with a foot injury. With these two players nearing their return, the Kings are optimistic about their chances of making a strong push in the second half of the season.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Fox and Barnes, as they are vital pieces to the Kings’ success. Their presence on the court will undoubtedly boost the team’s performance and give them a much-needed confidence boost as they aim to climb up the standings in the Western Conference.

Overall, the injury update has given the Sacramento Kings and their supporters something to look forward to, as they eagerly await the return of their key players and hope for a successful second half of the season.
