We may have gotten an early peek at Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4, courtesy of photos and a video shared by a leaker via X. The photos and clip, posted by an account dubbed Majin Bu, show off what are allegedly two models — or more likely, two dummy units — of the SE 4.

The four photos reveal two phones, one black and one white, with a single camera sticking out from the base. The video clip takes us on a more comprehensive tour, revealing both the front and rear.

USB-C, no home button, and a notch

Though the clip is brief, we can catch a USB-C port at the bottom, no Home button, and what looks like a simple notch at the top. In a reply to his post, Bu confirmed the notch, claiming Apple had a project with the Dynamic Island on the phone but that this model will come with the notch instead.

As for the release date, Bu said that the goal is to launch it toward the start of April, as long as everything goes according to plan. If so, that would mark Apple’s first major iPhone release of 2025.

What else you can expect

In another X post from Dec. 31, Bu revealed that the SE 4 would come with an OLED display and an action button. The video does seem to show an action button above the volume controls. At the time, the leaker also claimed that the new phone would be dubbed the iPhone 16E and not the SE 4, but no further details were shared on that name change.

The time is more than ripe for another iteration of Apple’s iPhone SE. The iPhone SE 3 launched almost three years ago in March 2022. Reports and rumors have been popping up since then about a fourth generation that would adopt some of the modern elements of the iPhone, such as Face ID, an OLED screen, and a USB-C port.

Other leaks say that the phone will cost less than $500, support Apple Intelligence, come with Apple’s first-ever in-house modem, and sport a screen size of 6.1 inches. A second series of photos shared by Bu compares the SE 4 with the iPhone 16, seemingly indicating that the bodies of both models are the same size. The SE 4 was expected to debut in 2024, but Apple apparently ran into production issues, causing its delay.

Recently leaked images have surfaced online, sparking speculation that this could be our first look at the highly anticipated iPhone SE set to be released in 2025. The images reveal major changes to the design and features of the popular budget-friendly iPhone model.

One of the most noticeable changes is the elimination of the home button, which has been a staple feature of the iPhone SE since its inception. Instead, the leaked images show a larger edge-to-edge display with a smaller notch at the top for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors.

Additionally, the back of the device appears to be made of a frosted glass material, similar to the iPhone 12 lineup. This suggests that the new iPhone SE may also support wireless charging, a feature that has been missing from previous models.

Other rumored changes include an upgraded processor for faster performance, improved camera capabilities, and 5G connectivity for faster internet speeds.

While these leaked images are not confirmed by Apple, they have certainly generated a lot of buzz among tech enthusiasts. If these changes turn out to be true, the 2025 iPhone SE could be a game-changer in the budget smartphone market. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about this exciting new device.
