Jason Momoa Joins James Gunn’s DCU for Supergirl Movie in the Absolute Perfect Role

Jason Momoa is trading in Aquaman for the chance to play his dream DC character. The actor has announced that he will portray Lobo in DC Studios’ Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Momoa confirmed the casting in an Instagram post that included a screenshot of a previous comment he had made regarding Lobo: “So Lobo was…I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’ said the actor. Momoa went on to say that should DC come around asking him to play Lobo, it would be ‘a f*ck yeah.’” The caption for the Instagram post simply read: “They called.” Deadline has confirmed that Momoa will make his DC Universe debut as Lobo in the Supergirl movie, which has Milly Alcock set to star as the titular superhero.
Supergirl begins production on Jan. 13, 2025, ahead of its June 26, 2026 release.
