Walker Kessler Over 11.5 rebounds (-115 at bet365)

My analysis

Walker Kessler is averaging a career-best 11.3 rebounds per game this season, so he’ll need to be just above average in this one to cash this prop. I think he’ll be exceptional on the glass tonight and cruise past this line.

Kessler has been far better as a rebounder on the road than at home, pulling down just 10.3 boards at Delta Center and 12.2 in all other venues. He’s hit the Over on this line in 10 of 17 on the road, making this a favorable matchup in the Big Easy. 

The Utah Jazz big man has a stellar matchup with a New Orleans Pelicans team that has allowed the fourth-most rebounds (46) to opponents this season. That includes the seventh-most defensive rebounds (34.1) and the fifth-most offensive rebounds (11.9). Kessler leads the Association in offensive boards this season at 4.3.

John Collins is out tonight, and Kessler has thrived with him on the sidelines this season. In 21 games with Collins, Kessler has averaged 10.6 total rebounds and 3.9 offensive rebounds across 28.7 minutes. In 11 games without Collins, Kessler has averaged 12.6 total rebounds and 5.1 offensive rebounds across 31.3 minutes. 

Kessler gets a perfect convergence of elite matchup and increased opportunity tonight, making this an easy Over selection.

Trey Murphy has been a tremendous offensive force for New Orleans this season, averaging a career-high 21.5 points per game. He’s hit the Over in 15 of 27 overall, including seven of 14 at home. He finished with 19 points in Friday’s tilt with Utah after going for at least 20 in four straight. 

Over his last 13, Murphy has averaged 25.2 points and gone Over 10 times. His points line is set at 22.5, but I’m more comfortable taking shorter odds at 19.5 and adding this to our three-legger.

Four of Utah’s Top 5 scorers are out tonight, and the absences of Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, John Collins, and Jordan Clarkson leave 72.4 points up for grabs. Keyonte George is Utah’s lone healthy offensive force remaining, and he should cruise past this line.

George missed five straight with a heel injury but has returned without any rust, posting back-to-back 26-point efforts. Expect him to receive the green light to fire away.
