Jimmy Horn injury update: Colorado WR describes his health status entering Alamo Bowl

Colorado wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. suffered a lower-body injury in the Buffaloes’ Week 11 win over Texas Tech and hasn’t played since. In the week leading up to Colorado’s showdown against BYU in the Alamo Bowl, Horn provided an update on his status.

“I’ve been feeling pretty good,” Horn said. “The way I got through it, I go to treatment every day, you know. Just got to show up and get the treatment for my body, so I can go out there and perform.”

Horn’s presence would be a massive addition for Colorado. Before suffering the Week 11 injury, Horn amassed 33 catches for 434 yards and a touchdown. Horn boasts blazing speed and the ability to explode any given gameday.

He showed off this talent in Colorado’s Week 1 win over North Dakota State when he erupted for 198 receiving yards and a touchdown. Horn discussed what it would mean for him to have another monstrous performance in Colorado’s final game of the season.

“It would mean a lot. I want everybody to have a great performance,” Horn said. “You don’t want to finish your last game just wishing should have, could have, you know what I’m saying? Just want to finish out strong with a great performance.”

Horn hasn’t taken his time at Colorado for granted. He began his collegiate career at USF, where he spent two seasons, amassing 23 appearances. Ahead of the 2023 season, Horn transferred to Colorado. Since joining the program, Horn has built a special bond with head coach Deion Sanders.

“Jimmy’s gonna give you every darn thing he has and with the burden that he has on his shoulders; I mean, Jimmy’s playing for pop, man,” Sanders said earlier this year after Colorado’s win over NDSU. “Jimmy just came back from court seeing his father’s sentence, man. He’s gonna turn around and flip it and come out there and get you that?”

Sanders’ love for Horn isn’t one-sided.

“That means a lot, man. He’s just another good father figure, you feel me?” Horn said of Sanders. “So that’s a lot to me. That means a lot to me just to have him have my back, and then the people around too, like the coaching staff.”

Jimmy Horn Jr. will look to piece together one more standout showing at Colorado as the Buffaloes square off against BYU at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air live on ABC.
