Lives up to its’ description

This Webcam have exceeded expectations by a lot. Most web cams that boast 4K are really just 2K. JLAB goes all in telling you from the gate, what you get. Using Windows 11 x64, 2K is a decent resolution for still images at 5MP (2592×1944) @4:3 ratio while 3.7MP (2560×1440)@16:9 ratio. Pictures are sharp color grading is better than most webcams on the market as most of them will give you a washed out image while Jlabs maintains its’ contrast with deep blacks and very bright white. Brightness option along with focus and 2-5-10second timer is available in the windows 11 default camera app. Some webcams I have tested, only leaves you with one option while JLABS throws you more than just photo and video. JLAB 2K camera offers document scanning and whiteboard for those of us that need it for school.
As for the Video features JLAB stays true with a clean 2K 1440p @30fps and gives 1080p fans 60fps. I was able to test both resolutions and both videos made it hard to decide which to go with as they both had its own perks. I love high resolutions and am not afraid to go 30fps for a quality image while a part of me loves the smoothness of 60fps that just comes in clean.
The Webcam used for zoom, meets, adobe connect all calls came in crisp and clean as my “1TB” connection would allow. No pixelated calls on my screen and with my spouse reviewed the incoming calls on her ends claims the picture is crisp and calls came in nice. The mic is still just a standard mic and does a decent job of blocking out the ambient noise while some webcams will let you hear the quietest fans.
The overall build and look of the webcam is premium like you spent a hot dollar or two while the price remains modest for all it has to offer. I would definitely be looking out for more from JLAB as I was a long time fan and a “Logical PC” user and with the shift in the industry other brands are coming in strong like JLABS with very nice offerings. I would recommend this for anyone that don’t want to spend an arm and a leg for streaming.

Great ambient noise cancellation

I’ve tested 2 new webcams, alongside my older webcam recently. Of the 3, I think the JLab Epic Cam USB HD Webcam is my favorite.
The Epic Cam itself is pretty basic, like most webcams these days you just plug it in and it works – no special drivers needed. It has some fluff features, like interchangeable face-plates in grey and white, as well as some useful features that are missing on a lot of webcams, like manually adjustable zoom and brightness. The attached USB cable is a nice braided cable and longer than my old webcam, which is great!
But what really impressed me with the Epic Cam is its background noise cancellation. There is a fan or air conditioner running next to my desk in my small home office nook 24/7. It’s literally 2-feet away from me and makes a constant “white noise” sound. In my video, you can hear tests with 3 different webcams, with the A/C on and off. The Epic Cam is the only one where you cannot tell the difference. Note that in my video, the microphone takes a few seconds to focus in on my voice.
As far as still photos from the Epic Cam go, I thought it was just OK. It has higher megapixels than the other two cameras I tested, but seemed to have some trouble handling my grey hair with the overhead ceiling light in my office.
I docked a star for the iffy still photos and lack of a lens cover, but for video, which is the main purpose of the webcam for me, the JLab Epic Cam is an excellent choice.
