SZA and Keke Palmer are hyping each other up less than a month before the debut of their upcoming film, One of Them Days.

On Thursday (Dec. 26), the costars interacted on X after SZA called Palmer “the most talented person” she’s ever met. “No funny shit,” she continued. “Kinda scary but also inspiring .. not actually sure she’s human. Need more recon. Will report back soon.”

But before the four-time Grammy winner could “report back,” Palmer responded, writing, “If I’m not human, neither are you superstar.”

The quick chat was admired by Palmer and SZA fans who are looking forward to the women reconnecting onscreen, nearly two years after they guest-starred on an episode of Saturday Night Live together. With One of Them Days being produced by Issa Rae and directed by Lawrence Lamont, Palmer and SZA also made cameos on Rae’s former HBO series, Insecure.

In a Teen Vogue feature, SZA credited Palmer with helping her get acclimated in her first movie role.

“When I got on camera it was spooky, but Keke literally ushered me through,” the “Snooze” singer-songwriter said.

Palmer also referenced their popular SNL gif as bringing their buddy-comedy into fruition. “Like, I see that GIF used every single day and that was the beginning of our budding platonic romance that has continued to develop over time,” Palmer said. “Getting this opportunity to do this movie with her has been an unbelievable journey.”

One of Them Days comes to theaters on Jan. 17, 2025.
