Plum will become the first UW women’s basketball player to have her jersey number retired.

SEATTLE — One of the University of Washington’s most successful student-athletes in school history will have her jersey number retired in a halftime ceremony Saturday.

Kelsey Plum, who set the then-NCAA Division I individual scoring record (3,527 points) during her time with the Huskies, will have her No. 10 hung up to the rafters at Alaska Airlines Arena during UW’s home game against Purdue University on Saturday.

She also set what was then the NCAA single-season scoring record with 1,109 points in 2016-17. Plum basically won every major award possible during her time at UW, including the Naismith and Wade Awards, given annually to the top player in women’s college basketball. Plum made the All-Pac-12 Team in each of her four seasons and won the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2014. Plum’s scoring records were later broken by the University of Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.

Plum will become the first player in UW women’s basketball to have her jersey number retired. Plum’s strong career continued as a professional, as she was the first overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft. Plum is a three-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA champion with the Las Vegas Aces.

On the international stage, Plum won a gold medal with the U.S. 3×3 Basketball team in the Tokyo Olympics and another gold with the U.S. 5×5 Basketball team at the Paris Olympics this past summer.

Saturday’s game against Purdue will tip off at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be held during halftime of the game. Tickets for the game already have sold out, and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will get a limited edition Plum bobblehead.
