Kevin Costner’s Horizon Chapter 2 Sets U.S. Premiere After Getting Pulled From Release Schedule in 2024

The second part of Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga sets its long-awaited U.S. premiere date after suffering a major setback.

Per the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the next entry in Costner’s long-fomenting Horizon: An American Saga will be making its North American premiere at the Arlington Theater on February 7. The premiere of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 comes as the latest addition to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival lineup, and will feature a Q&A session with Costner after the screening. It will be preceded by a free screening of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.

Horizon: An American Saga finds a new lease on life on streaming after enduring a difficult start to its intended four-film run.

Created, co-written, directed, produced by and starring Costner, Horizon: An American Saga is based on a concept that the Hollywood icon began developing all the way back in 1988. The series is produced through Territory Pictures, with New Line Cinema distributing via Warner Bros. Pictures. The Western epic features an ensemble cast, including Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Jena Malone, Jamie Campbell Bower, Abbey Lee, and Luke Wilson. Both the first and second entries in the series were filmed back-to-back on a combined budget of $100 million, yet the first only managed to bring in a total of $38.7 million at the box office.

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 Gets a Hopeful Update

Although there hasn’t been any official word regarding a theatrical or streaming release date for Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, fans were recently given an optimistic update on that front courtesy of Chapter 2 star Isabelle Fuhrman, who portrays Diamond Kittredge in the film. “I believe it’s coming pretty soon. I think they’re kind of massaging what’s going on with it, but I actually, as of now, haven’t heard anything. Actors are usually the last to know in these sorts of things,” Fuhrman explained. “But I was really fortunate that we got to premiere it at Venice, and got to see it with an audience. And that was the first time I had seen the movie, and it was great.”

Despite its lack of theatrical success, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 recently made up for at least some of its past failings by overtaking Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga on the Netflix streaming charts. In the United States, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 secure the Number 3 spot for itself on Netflix’s Top 10 list, coming in only behind Carry-On and The Six Triple Eight. On Netflix’s global Top 10 list, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 came in seventh place overall. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga came in fourth and ninth place on Netflix’s U.S. and global Top 10 lists, respectively.

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 will make its North American premiere on February 7 at the Arlington Theater as part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
