Kristen Stewart Just Brought Back Her 2016 Bleach Blonde Hair

I invite you to think back to 2016. The world was rapping along to Hamilton. Beyoncé brought us Lemonade. Everyone everywhere was in the height of their New Girl obsession. Gilmore Girls made its controversial return. And Kristen Stewart was sporting a bleached blonde haircut. Well, prepare yourself for some 2016 flashbacks, because blonde KStew is back.

Kristen Stewart, who has been sporting a dark brunette style for a few months now, debuted her new bleached look during a walk with her fiancée Dylan Meyer in Los Angeles. She styled her new blonde hair in a messy bun with loose, shaggy strands framing her face and forehead. She paired the new ‘do with light-wash jeans and a blue V-neck sweater.

Back in 2014, just a few years before her first bleach blonde era, Stewart opened up about wanting to experiment with new hair colors. “If I wasn’t an actor, I would definitely do things to my hair,” she told Into the Gloss. “I would cut it more, I would dye it more. At some point I want to do a total boy cut, completely—not a pretty, girly version—like a straight up James Dean haircut.”

Then, in 2016, she told Today about her decision to go blonde. “I haven’t acted in a movie in close to a year and…I’m constantly preserving my physicality and staying neutral.” When she found herself with some time off before her next shoot, she thought, “You know what, I can do whatever I want.”

Stewart is currently in pre-production for two projects—’80s vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods and astronaut biopic series The Challenger. So, who knows, perhaps she had just enough of a break to warrant a major hair transformation in between projects.
