Lady Vols legend Candace Parker announces book set to release this summer
Candace Parker hasn’t slowed down at all since retiring in April 2024, and now the Lady Vols basketball legend is releasing a book this summer.
Parker announced her new book Monday titled “The Can-Do Mindset,” which was inspired by her childhood nickname. The book will officially go on sale on June 3, but it’s available for preorder now.
“Can-Do became my nickname from an early age, and it’s become a mindset that’s served me through so many life phases, anchoring me through choppy waters,” Parker wrote on Instagram. “In this book, I share stories from my own life on and off the court that made me who I am. I hope these stories will inspire you to break the boundaries around you and create your own success. With the Can-Do mindset, you will succeed in the game of life.”
Parker is the president of Adidas women’s basketball. She also owns a production company named Baby Hair Productions, which has already released two documentaries – one on Title IX named “Title IX: 37 Words That Changed America,” and one on Parker’s journey through basketball called “Candace Parker: Unapologetic.”
She also welcomed her third child last summer, a baby boy named Hartt Summitt Petrakov Parker — his middle name a nod to legendary Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt.

It was Parker’s second child with her wife, Anna Petrakova Parker, but her third child in total. Parker’s firstborn, her daughter Lailaa, was born in 2009 as Parker began her WNBA career and is now in high school. Parker’s first son with Anna was born in February 2022 and is named Airr Larry Petrakov Parker.
Parker retired as one of the greatest basketball players ever. She played 16 seasons in the WNBA and is a three-time WNBA champion and a two-time WNBA MVP.

She was also the 2016 WNBA Finals MVP, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and the 2020 Defensive Player of the year. Parker is the only player in league history to have won MVP and Rookie of the Year in the same season in 2008, and she’s the only player to win three titles with three different teams.
Parker, who is 6-foot-4, was renowned for her skillset as a forward and her ability to play any position – even point guard. She played for Pat Summitt at Tennessee from 2004-08 and won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2007-08.
Parker was the Final Four Most Outstanding Player both years and won the Wade Trophy in 2007. Her Lady Vols No. 3 jersey is retired, and she’s arguably the best player to ever suit up for Tennessee.
